An Outstanding Performance at the F3 Expo – Masters of Freestyle Competition

If you aren’t convinced FPV mini quadcopter racing will be the next craze, then you have to check out this amazing video of Jonathan Davis “Skitzo”. This past November 12-14 was the F3 Expo where quadcopter professionals, experts, students, media, and spectators came to show off their stuff.

One of the most exciting events was the Masters of Freestyle competition; which was an obstacle course set up in the Georgia Dome itself! This was an opportunity for some of the best drone pilots in the world to demonstrate their mad skills.

Who knew drones were capable of the aerobatics these professionals demonstrated!?

This event was just as much fun for the spectators as it was for the pilots. The spectators were able to tune their FPV goggles to the same channel as the pilots, allowing them the watch the flight from the same perspective. Although, it was okay if you didn’t have FPV goggles because you could also watch the same thing on the Jumbotron screen!

One of the objective of the F3 Expo was to bring awareness to the hobby and show the public how quadcopters can be flown safely.  There has been a lot of negative press regarding drone safety and FAA regulations for small UAV’s.  This expo was an opportunity for enthusiasts help people better understand drones. If you would like more information on the newly proposed FAA regulations see my blog post on drone regulations.
